New Age

Recently I've been very confused as to why things aren't playing out the way they have for all the generations before me. I realize now that this generation is a new kind of generation.

The way that we've lived, as humans this entire time has been used up, it's time to recycle, and we have for the most part. Our fashion, music, art, and political battles are all rehashes of the stuff that happened over the last 2,000 years.

I think we are the first generation in a line of people that will be part of the new age. We are the ones that will in this second age where we look out, to a species that lasts the test of time. If we fail, then the species will fail.

We are the ones that will live sustainable, recycle, and invent. We will be the ones to make human life last longer, and be better, and reusable.

Hopefully our children will continue this path, and they will be the first to step on Mars, build colonies and their children to build cities. Their children to move on to farther reaches.

One day there will be more people off Earth, than on it.

The most exciting part, everything we have done to this point is remembered and recorded, every piece of art, religion, and science that we have created is part of our legacy. Think of how proud we can be to be humans; we'll be able to show what we can do to anyone and anything we run into.

This is a long train of thought, but I figured I'd write it down today. I have so much more to say.

Red Light Winter

Went to NYC this weekend for a Film meeting. I met with two actors and were working on a short. It's based of the play Red Light Winter by Adam Rapp. Were working on a scene where our main character who just tried to commit suicide is being seduced by a French prostitute who is really a runaway American who has a gay husband she is paid to be married to.
We had a good night we ate out at a great restaurant that served up some crazy shit. "Skate Cake?!" Fuck that. We ordered salmon, all of us, haha it was safe, and it was Friday. We went out then for a good night. Played us some skee ball. Got lost in the city. Ended up in Booklyn somehow. Interesting.
Got some shopping done finally.

LENT

The time of year, when we crazy statue worshiping, goat slaying, infantile blood-drinking Catholics, honor Jesus Christ's suffering in the time before his death. We give up meat on Fridays, give up a crutch of our own, and try to repent and do good, which we lack on the entire year.

This year I thought I'd go all out.

I gave up my favorite thing in the world, besides swearing,  COFFEE. The beautiful little bean that wakes me up once ground, and added with boiling water, just a little cream, and heaven. I miss it so much! I have to use the sad Asian substitute, Tea. You know it takes 3 cups of that pathetic little drink to equal coffee. I have around 12 cups of coffee a day. 36 cups of tea? I don't think so. I have black circles under my eyes!!!

Back to lent. I also am trying to not eat red meat during the week as well. I've done so-so up till now. But the major thing is that I've made it a week without coffee. I probably should go to mass here. Yes, I think I will try that. But my life has turned up surprisingly since lent has started. So, Thank you god, thanks for everything always. But if there's anything I can ask now, please make these last 33 days go faster!

АКСИНИЯ - НОВАТА ПЕПЕЛЯШКА

The Bulgarian Pop-Folk Sensation Aksinia dropped her debut album last month.

It includes all singles she's put out the last few years.  Mainly the lead single being "Gubish" The summer hit. Found in a popfolk/r&b version, and a dance remix.

It also features her English single "Striptease" which I think would do fairly well on American charts given the chance. It sister single "Novata Pepelyashka" I feel not so much, its not nearly as charismatic as the English version.

Anyways, Theres only 3 songs on this album I don't like, and for a Pop Folk album, that's crazy!
You should defintiely check it out, along with the videos. It's all on Itunes!

Плохая Девочка

My friend Tatia and I always find something to do in little Lock Haven. One dark night this January we had a little wine, a little vintage clothes, little hot models, lil bit fun.

This all adds up to a Slavic dinner party of vampire's and old world charm. Also, a beautiful 19th century Mansion helps add to the atmosphere, models don't need to work that hard.

Past Lives

So I've been really into Buddhism lately. I'm starting to actually believe in past lives. It might explain all my "sixth sense" moments I call them. I think i experience Deja vu more than anyone I know. It also may explain my uncanny ability to step outside my "world box" and view someone else's or at-least  think I've lived in another. Being in touch with it I think is what drives my artistic thoughts and obsession with knowing languages and people that I feel like I've lived before.

-ANYWAYS- This week I was talking about how I really felt like I lived in an Eastern European country in my last life. Obviously this was as the party was winding down and everyone was chilling. So we all laughed at me.

- Then today I took the "Past Lives" Quiz. Which is complete bullshit I know. But this was a funny answer it gave me.

So this weekend I was talking about feeling like i was born in Eastern Europe in my past life.. ..  and.. I took a test...

Your past life diagnosis:

I don't know how you feel about it, but you were female in your last earthly incarnation. You were born somewhere in the territory of modern Romania around the year 1875. Your profession was that of a map maker, astrologer, astronomer.
Your brief psychological profile in your past life:
Timid, constrained, quiet person. You had creative talents, which waited until this life to be liberated. Sometimes your environment considered you strange.
The lesson that your last past life brought to your present incarnation:It always seemed to you that your perceptions of the world are somewhat different. Your lesson is to trust your intuition as your best guide in your present life.

Love Aaj Kal [लव आज कल] [Love These Days]

Great 2009 Bollywood Flick!

Didn't get to see it in theatres. I had to wait till this month to finally get a chance to see it!
- My favorite actor [Saif Ali Khan] and the new "it girl" [Deepika Padukone] star in a very warming film. Its a story of love in the modern age, and a story of old world romance in 60's Punjabi India.

Jai [Saif] and Meera [Deepika] are the power couple in a group of friends living in London. Their lives split when their jobs take them to separate parts of the world. San Fran and Delhi. Being as far apart as possible they realize they need each other. Its only the stories of old world romance that bring them together.

Great Songs, Great cinematography, Sweet Story. Watch it

Rag and Bone

There's a really cool Vintage store in State College, PA.

Instead of taking all the crap they accept in Good Will and Salvation Army, Rag and Bone is run by Shelley Banker. She collects pieces from auctions and dealers. Everything in the store is amazing.

The store helped me dress many of the characters in my futuristic thriller film from the Fall, Mission Osiris.
I've also found great costume jewelry and even a snake skin wallet there.

If you're looking for something to wear but hate all the stores in this sad little town, thats the spot.

al-3Arabia

So, This semester there are too many kids in my arabic class for there to be proper study. So we split up every other day with one of our teachers. Today the lists came out, Eiyre b'hyati. I'm stuck with the teacher that hates me, opposed to the teacher that I get along with. Granted, this teacher will push me harder and get me to be a better speaker of the language, I'm still not looking forward to it.

Today we went over my favorite part of the Arabic language.

al-fa3ala
the verb , and its ability to be morphed into many other forms of its self.

you take the root, F-3-L [the judher], and put it into all the other patterns to change meaning.

if Q-T-3 [F-3-l] is to cut
then Q-T-T-3 is to chop up
Q-A-T-3 to cut off
A-N-Q-T-3 - to be cut off

etc etc. You get the idea. Well anyways there are 10 forms of a verb. And I have a quiz on monday on all of them, and need to know all the meanings, like as you saw above, A-N-F-3-L is to become the one taking the action instead of doing the action.
As an English speaker this is a pain in the ass to remember, but for an Arab this is heaven when it comes time to use a dictionary, or making words. Frankly, it makes want to crush babies.

But it does also work for nouns.

D-R-S is to study
D-A-R-S student
M-D-R-S-A - school

etc etc

ok I'm sure nobody cares haha, But I find it fascinating.

Вячеслав Михайлович Зайцев

SLAVA ZAITSEV

Crazy
Russian
Designer

Well at least his fashion is all know of. He is also a painter, graphic designer, and a costume designer.
What I love about him is his ability to make traditional Slavic designs into high fashion. The history, and stories that go into each piece are what amaze me. His family endured some hardships of Russian history [his Father was murdered in Stalin's camps] and I think it translates into his artwork. He once stated that all these years he's been making clothes in the memory o his mother. She worked as a seamstress during the Soviet years and never owned a fancy dress.

He creates what he lives. He's proud of his background. Which I somehow hope I can put into my work one day.

SHANTI

Feeling a lot of pain today. Please read this prayer that I found on a website.
